Hyundai and Kia have issued a recall for a combined total of more than 91,000 vehicles after identifying a potential fire hazard related to the electric oil pump assembly. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that certain 2023-2024 models are affected.

For Hyundai, the recall includes specific 2023-2024 Palisade SUVs, and 2023 Tucson, Sonata, Elantra, and Kona vehicles, totaling 52,008 units. Meanwhile, Kia’s recall involves certain 2023-2024 Seltos SUVs, and 2023 Soul and Sportage vehicles, amounting to 39,765 units.

To minimize risks, vehicle owners are strongly advised to park their cars outside and away from structures until the necessary recall repair is completed. The issue revolves around the electronic controller for the Idle Stop & Go oil pump assembly, which might contain damaged electrical components, leading to potential overheating of the pump.

Hyundai and Kia Recall: Free Inspection and Replacement Offered for Recalled Vehicles

Hyundai and Kia have announced recalls for specific vehicle models due to safety concerns. Hyundai owners of the following models – 2023 Hyundai Elantra, 2023 Hyundai Kona, 2023 Hyundai Sonata, 2023 Hyundai Tucson, and 2023-2024 Hyundai Palisade – will be receiving notification letters by September 25th. Customers are encouraged to take their vehicles to Hyundai dealerships, where a free inspection and replacement service will be provided.

Similarly, Kia owners of the 2023 Kia Soul, 2023 Kia Sportage, and 2023-2024 Kia Seltos will be notified by September 28th. Kia dealerships will offer a free inspection and replacement service to ensure the safety of these vehicles.
